Malone students learn about fire safety

by Laurel Menne-Dibb

October is Fire Prevention Month. At Malone Elementary School, local fire fighters taught students what to do if there is a fire.

Kindergarten and First Grade students had the opportunity to talk to local fire fighters, see Prescott's new fire truck and experience ths "smoke house."

A smoke house is specifically designed to give children and adults the experience of reacting in fire-like situations. They learn how hard it is to see and how to crawl out of a window with a fire fighter's help.

Fire and EMS Director Bill Dravis brought Prescott fire fighters Mark Fiedler and Matt Knott to the school to help with demonstrations and to talk about fire safety.
