The fire alarm was sounded last Sunday morning early for a fire in the barn of Carl Wolf. The fire had a good start when discovered and the building was dry and burned fast. The fire seemed to be in the haymow which permitted everything to value on the first floor to be removed.

Carl had chickens in the barn and after the fire had been extinguished the heads of 13 chickens was found in the building. It was very evident that someone had been in the barn and had gotten away with at least that many chickens.

When B.J. Crocker, program director of WWTC Radio, Minneapolis, rocked into Prescott to M.C. the Green Bay Packers/PYAA basketball game, it was a great appearance for a good cause.

While he was here, Crocker decided to do a little recruiting and when he picked up his microphone and left he had established and option with local Prescott resident and businessman Gary Rawn to become a radio personality in the Twin Cities. In talking Rawn into talking the position, Crocker stated that anyone who could capture an island (Prescott Island) from government and get by with it should be able to capture the Twin Cities audience. The WWTC program director indicated he is excited by the addition of Rawn to the staff. "Gary has a colorful and impressive background and I hope he draws from this source to entertain our listeners."

A few boaters on the St. Croix River at Prescott got quite a scare last Wednesday evening as a man stood on the shore under the railroad bridge waving a .357 revolver.

Washington County authorities arrested a 31-year-old St. Paul man shortly after 7:45 p.m. May 6. Prescott police and Pierce County sheriff's officers assisted as back up in the incident.

In the police report, the man was described as an Asian male. After a search of the area, a .357 revolver was found hidden in some rocks. The gun was loaded and five rounds were found next to the gun. Five rounds were also found in the man's left front pants pocket.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in Washington County, but authorities said likely charges include aggravated assault, possession of stolen weapon and brandishing a firearm.
