A recent report listed two Wisconsin cities with residents having some of the highest personal debt in the nation. At the same time, reports state first quarter home repossessions doubled since the last quarter of 2007.
Many Wisconsin residents can't afford fuel, food or a place to live. Is this the American dream?
This leads us to believe that our politicians must take a hard, serious look at solutions that will lower Wisconsin property taxes. Our elected officials are not handling this in a matter that directly affects Wisconsin residents.
While we appreciate attempts to iron out the state budget over the past months, it is time to worry about constituents and realize high Wisconsin property tax is having detrimental affects on all residents.
We have begged and pleaded with political entities near and far to consider the individual tax payer but - so far - our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. While we appreciate statements saying they are looking after us by keeping a balanced state budget, we feel affected by the poor economy and our draining wallets.
In fact, we feel like we have been abandoned by our elected officials. And, our faith in the political process is failing us rapidly.
Democrats and Republicans can argue on their own time instead of our's for a change. They should be working together to look for solutions to the current crisis that exists in the state and country.
Do we have the answers - no. However, we didn't run for office and fill heads with promises either. It is time for our officials to act on those promises and provide real relief to the taxpayer.
