The Prescott Journal was founded in 1855 in Prescott, Wisconsin at the junction of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. Over the course of its 153-year history, the Journal has undergone numerous transformations. The Journal is currently owned and published by Weekly Newspapers, Inc. The president and publisher of the corporation is Gary B. Rawn.
The Journal is Western Wisconsin's oldest newspaper and has seen many historical events and people pass through its pages, ranging from the battles of the Civil War and Custer's Last Stand to the exploits of the infamous Jesse James.
The newspaper serves the St. Croix River Valley, including towns and cities such as River Falls and Ellsworth as well as Hastings and Cottage Grove, both in nearby Minnesota.
Prescott itself is located just 30 minutes southeast of the Twin Cities and has an upwardly mobile population of approximately 4,200. The Journal serves as a one stop shop for printing, publishing and advertising in the St. Croix River Valley, and has won numerous state and national awards for design, editorial content and advertising programs.
The Journal has been and will continue to be a vital part of the comunity, covering local, county and events in both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
